Bath Time.

Remember a few #wantwednesdays ago, I wanted the Isabel Marant Betty’s? No, well, let me refresh your memory (click here!) Now you remember! Great, moving on. Guess who just got them?!?! This girl! Who says they’re sold out?! So, I had to make post wearing my new Isabel Marant Betty Sneakers! I just love saying that!! Oh, and I’m wearing the black version of the white Brandy Melville Simona top (sheer here). It was a great week for me! And of course, I’m wearing my trusty Ray-Ban glasses.

Chanel Charm Necklace

Happy #WantWednesday!

Chanel Charm Necklace

These necklaces are so cute and totally timeless! I mean, they fill that “little girl” void we all have as we grow up, and since they’re Chanel, they have that class that we all crave as adults. I love this particular necklace so much, and the one with the cosmetic charms! I saw the cosmetic one on sale at Saks a few years ago, I didn’t have the money at the time so I didn’t get it. But, I went to Saks a few days ago and a woman in the Chanel section was wearing my necklace! How weird is that?!? I can’t wait until the day I march into the Chanel store in Paris and buy my first charm necklace!

This one on top was from The Devil Wears Prada (as seen below.)

OMG LOVE!!!!

Bradley Cooper & Big Bird

Happy #Look-a-Like #Tuesday

Bradley Cooper & Big Bird

Sexiest man alive, meet biggest bird alive. That’s right, Bradley Cooper has flown to Big Bird’s Coop (pun intended!) Okay, call me crazy, but I definitely think that they look a like! Come on, you know that every time you watch The Hangover, you secretly think that Bradley Cooper is gonna fly away. He’s like a really hot bird man. And Big Bird, is equally as talented. I mean he’s been a huge (no pun intended) star for ages. Think what you want, I’m sticking by my choice!

Laundry Day.

Remember how I told you guys that I got this Brandy Melville top and got chocolate on it? Well, I washed it! And I’m wearing it! #Success . I’m gonna be 100% honest, I have never done laundry in my life. My Mom washed it for me, but I was the photography director. I get some credit for that, right? Oh, and that’s one of my other dogs Polo. Back to my wardrobe. I’m wearing that Brandy Melville Simona top (love this), with some french jeans that I made into shorts (J Brand shorts here,) and my Steve by Steve Madden boots (want these too.) And of course the ultimate accessory, Tide (these are awesome, I want!) Yes, I am that much of a dork to get excited over Tide. And let the record show, that if I had those Tide Pods, I would probably do at least one load of my own laundry.

P.S. Remember how I said I would buy this top in every color? Well, I went to Brandy the next day and bought it in black!

Celeste and Jesse Forever

I recently saw this movie, Celeste and Jesse Forever. I had no idea what it was going to be about, but I love Andy Samberg so I had to see it. Basically it’s a story of a divorcing couple Celeste (Rashida Jones,) and Jesse (Andy Samberg,) who still remain best friends during their divorce. They hang out every single day, and act as if they are still together. Until, one day when Jesse finds out he has gotten someone pregnant and decides to marry his baby mama. Celeste gets super jealous and goes through a downward life spiral. Also in the movie is Emma Roberts (who plays a rebellious 20 year old popstar,) Chris Messina (who plays a very charming asshole type interested in Celeste,) Ari Graynor and Eric Christian Olsen (who play Celeste and Jesse’s best married friends,) Elijah Wood (who plays Celestes gay business partner,) and Rebecca Dayan (who plays Jesse’s baby mama.)

Everyone did such a fantastic job in this movie. Rashida Jones was hilarious and you really felt for her during the movie. I love Andy Samberg with all of my heart, and going into the movie I thought he was going to have all of my attention, until Chris Messina appeared. Chris Messina stole the show in my opinion. He has such a captivating charm, that when he’s in front of the camera you can’t help but put all of your focus on him. As soon as I got home I went straight to IMDB and looked him up. Emma Roberts was perfect for her part, but I felt that at some points you could tell she was trying way too hard.

The directing was very interesting. It was great when it comes to the actors and all that. But, I wasn’t crazy about some of the camera movements. It was very unsteady and made me dizzy.

All in all it was great portrail of modern couples, and todays dating world. I really enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is single, in a relationship, or especially getting a divorce! It puts a great positive spin on staying friends with your ex, which I think is really important.

Now watch the trailer!

New In!

Brandy Melville Simona Top

I actually did get this, and I really can’t wait to do a post with it. But, of course, the first day I wear it I got chocolate on it so it’s being washed as I type. You guys probably think that I’m obsessed with Brandy Melville, the truth is, I am. They honestly have such great stuff for a very low price. This top, for example, is only $29. And every black friday they have the most amazing sale, to the point where people actually camp out waiting to go! Anyway, I love my new top and wanna get it in every color (because that’s what I do when I love something.)

Stop Your Wine-ing

As you all know, I am half French. But, living and growing up in California, the legal drinking age is 21 (which I just turned.) I never drink, I am not the type of person who goes to parties and gets drunk. I don’t even go out at night! But, I do enjoy some wine, I can thank my French side for that! I went to Malibu for my first ever wine tasting. It was such a blast, and something I would like to do again some time. Before going to Malibu, I went to the Santa Monica Mall. It was such a simple day, I didn’t even think of taking pictures, even though I did. I was wearing J Brand jeans (my favorite right now,) a simple tank from Forever 21, my gold glitter Toms (black here,) vintage Hermes bracelet (want this one,) and of course my Ray-Bans eyeglasses! By the way if you were wondering, I actually do need glasses and I don’t just wear them to “be a cool hipster,” my vision is -6.00 aka almost blind!

All You Need is Love…

…Bracelets that is! Happy #WantWednesday!

Cartier Love Bracelet

Is it just me or does everyone on the planet have one of these except for me? I mean why wouldn’t you want one, it’s the ultimate classic. This bracelet has been around for over 30 years, and it goes with everything. I personally love the yellow gold, my favorite is the one with all diamonds. I love what the bracelet represents, eternal love, that’s nice right? It doesn’t mean that your boyfriend or husband has to get it for you, get it for yourself! I know that I’ll love myself eternally!

Khloe Kardashian & Ivana Humpalot

Happy #Look-a-Like #Tuesday!

Khloe Kardashian & Ivana Humpalot

Ever since the Kardashians became huge, every time I watch Austin Powers 2 I think of Khloe Kardashian! I mean seriously, they look so much a like. I love Khloe Kardashian, she’s definitely my favorite of the bunch after Scott Disick, of course. And the character of Ivana Humpalot always makes me laugh when I watch Austin Powers 2, which is a lot since I love that movie. Yea, they’re twins.

Mad(den) Monday.

This outfit makes me feel so badass! Which I totally am not! I’m the biggest dork on the planet, like I’m the girl who goes to bed at 10pm (the latest!) But it’s fun to pretend. And my wolf-hybrid, Hyde, is the same. Badass on the outside, wimp on the inside. Yes, he actually is part wolf, 85% to be exact! Thank you wolf farms! I guess I should talk about what I’m wearing now, huh? The glasses are Ray-Ban New Wayferer, the top is my friends company Knotee (cute too), the jeans are Just USA (similar here), and the shoes are Steve by Steve Madden, hence the title Madden Monday, (love these too!)

The Exorcist Play

On Sunday August 12th, 2012 I went to the fabulous Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles to see the first ever Exorcist play. The cast includes: Brooke Shields (as Chris MacNeil,) Emily Yetter (as Regan,) David Wilson Barnes (as Damien Karras,) Stephan Bogardus (as Dr. Strong,) Richard Chamberlain (as Father Merrin,) Manoel Felciano (as Father Joe,) Harry Groener (as Burke Dennings,) Tom Nelis (as Dr Klein,) and Roslyn Ruff (as Carla.)

Let’s start with the fact that The Exorcist is one of my all time favorite films! I even started reading the book, but that was even more terrifying. So, when I heard that The Geffen Playhouse was putting on the first ever Exorcist play I jumped at the chance to see it. Being such a big fan of the movie, I definitely had high expectations, and wondered how they were going to portray the film on a live stage. The entire show took place on one set, the church, with the table being used as the main piece of furniture changing from various tables to the bed. The film is famous for its make-up, which in the play was non-existent. There were no make-up or wardrobe changes. Everything was done with lighting, which really shows you the power of good lighting. I know what you’re thinking, “how about the famous levitation scene?” Well, they did put that in the play, how could they not? And it was actually mid-boggling! After the play was over everyone was asking how they made her levitate. There were no signs of strings, no glass under her, nothing! It still is making me think, even in the movie you can see strings, but in this live show, you can’t see anything. I’m pretty sure it was magic. The play definitely exceeded my expectations.

All the actors did an amazing job, the one that stood out the most to me was Harry Groener, who played Burke Dennings, the director of the film that Chris MacNeil is in. If you know the film you know that the character of Burke is a drunk, and adds a comedic perspective to the film. Harry Groener nailed the part of Burke, he was absolutely hilarious, and when he took the stage all of my attention went to him. It’s safe to say that he stole the show. Emily Yetter, who played Regan, was also very good. She had the perfect look for the part, very young and innocent. I thought that the character of Damien Karras was poorly cast when it comes to the look, we know Damien as the Brooklyn-Italian type, David Wilson Barnes, looked more like a nice Jewish guy. But other than that all of the actors were absolutely terrific!

The show was directed by John Doyle and written by John Pielmeier. The directing was actually amazing. When the curtain came up and it was only one set I thought to myself, “Oh no, this is going to be terrible, how can they only use one set?” But John Doyle made it work so well, if there was another set the play would not have as much an impact as it did. The writing was phenomenal, of course you could never compete with the original screenplay, but it was perfect fot the 2012 theater audience.

All in all, I would definitely recommend the play to anyone who has or hasn’t seen the movie. Whether you love the movie, or not, I would definitely find out when this play is playing near you and go check it out.

Two thumbs up!

Happy Birthday Mademoiselle Coco Chanel!

“There have been several Duchesses of Westminster but there is only one Chanel!”
-Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel

(August 19th, 1883-January 10th, 1971)

A women who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous

Elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress.

In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.

Happy Birthday to one of the most talented women in fashion. Coco Chanel is an inspiration. From poor Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel to the famous Coco Chanel. From cafe performer, to seamstress, to hat designer, to revolutionary women’s clothing designer. She was way ahead of her time, creating chic boy-ish look. When everyone was still wearing and designing dress and corsets, she wanted to wear comfortable pants and suits. Who says they’re for men? She took a risk, and it definitely paid off. I would personally like to thank her for all she’s done in the industry. I have no other words. Thank you Coco Chanel!

Merci Coco Chanel!

Tea Time.

If I could, I would spend every afternoon having High Tea at the Beverly Hills Hotel, or especially The Plaza. Since I can’t right now, I choose to have tea in the front of my house, alone. Okay, so it was about 100º so I didn’t actually have tea, but the five year old inside me was so excited to have a tea party with myself, if only I still had my stuffed animals! As I’ve said before, I really have never paid for a pair of shorts, the ones I’m wearing are an old pair of Paige jeans (hey look actual shorts!) that I had cut into shorts. The top I’m wearing is from this $15 store on Larchmont, I bought it in both blue and pink! The shoes are Gucci (love these) and I got them at a consignment store in Brentwood for like $40. The pearls (similar here) are my Moms from Boutique at Hotel Bel Air. The headscarf is a Tiffany&Co twilly (similar).

Chanel Boots? Oh Yea!

Happy #WantWednesday

Chanel Calfskin Lace-up Boots

I’m actually speechless. These are probably the coolest lace-up boots on the planet! I don’t care if I have to save every penny, I will get these! In case you didn’t know Chanel is by far my favorite, and Karl Lagerfeld is such a genius. Anyway, back to the boots! These gorgeous calfskin boots, which are pre-fall, are definitely a great investment. They will never go out of style. So if you’re gonna spend your money on boots, my advice is, you get what you pay for so you may as well save and buy something amazing, instead of going to Steve Madden and buying cheap knock-offs. If and when I get these, I’m definitely gonna do an amazing post!

Man Repeller & Geico Caveman

It’s Tuesday, my new favorite day of the week! The reason? It’s Look-a-Like day!

Man Repeller and Geico Caveman

Okay, so I’m a huge fan of The Man Repeller. She makes blogging look so easy, even a caveman can do it! No offense Gieco Caveman. So, I just happened to think this was really funny, I mean come on, they’re making the same face! Let me know what you think of this match!

Manicure Madness!

#ManicureMonday ! Just a few of my recent manicures. Sally Hansen Love Letter20120810-202600.jpgRockstar Nails Red!20120810-202712.jpgMermaid Rockstar Nails!20120810-202806.jpgChanel Nails meet Chanel Room! Ring is Tiffany & Co. 20120810-202832.jpgAll That Glitters is Gold

As you can probably tell I’m kind of #obsessed with Rockstar Manicures (glitter nails.) The best place, and only place that’s not too expensive, to get them is Marie Nails. They do the most amazing Rockstar gel manicure and it only cost $40! Most places in LA charge way more! You have to make an appointment and they book up fast, so I usually make 3 in advance. They also did my Chanel nails! I do have to admit that the Sally Hansen Salon effects are also a favorite of mine. I mean, they’re so easy to use and you end up with an amazing manicure that lasts 2 weeks. Best $10 spent!

About Reviews

“I may not know much about art, but I know what I like.”

-Orson Welles

That pretty much sums up what my reviews are gonna be, whether it be books, movies, music, plays etc… Although, I will say I am pretty good judge when it comes to movies. I’m gonna try to do a review every Sunday, it gives me a pretty good excuse to go see new movies. Each week will probably be a different subject, like one week movies and the next a book. I’ll even do places like restaurants and nails salons. I hope I help!

Hot Pink Summer Days.

Honestly, nothing is better than LA in the summer! I love the fact that I can just leave my house in the most casual of outfits. A Brandy Melville Tank (love this other Kate Moss shirt), my Forever 21 partial “leather” leggings (wish I had these), my Ray-ban New Wayfarers glasses, and my new favorite addition, my hot pink Nike Lunarlon’s.

The Fashion Adroit on Shoes TV

So, one of my favorite bloggers, The Fashion Adroit, just did a “Closet Confessional” for Shoes.tv ! Check it out!

Hope you enjoyed!

21! So Fun!

So, today was my 21st birthday! Since I live in Los Angeles, and went to High School in Beverly Hills, I decided to walk down one of my favorite streets, Rodeo Drive. I’m pretty much a very casual person, and it was 90° today so I decided to wear a pair of old jeans that I got in France and cut into shorts (these work too,) a simple white v-neck from Gap (love this one more), and styled it up with my favorite pair of Chanel flats (these are cute too!) and my super old Marc by Marc Jacobs bag (wish I had this). Let me just tell you, I got those flats for my 18th birthday and the day I got them I literally showed them around my room and said “okay babies, I know you’re scared but this is going to be your new home, and I promise I’ll take good care of you.” No joke! I’m such a dork! Oh, and in case you were wondering the white background is the Chanel store on Rodeo aka My Happy Place.

Isabel Marant Betty Sneakers

Happy #WantWednesday!

Isabel Marant Betty Sneakers

In my first outfit post. I was wearing my boss’ Isabel Marant Bobby sneakers. These are the Betty’s, they look pretty much just like the Bobby’s but instead of being all suede they also have mostly leather. Oddly enough they’re $20 cheaper. Isabel Marant Betty’s are definitely on my wish list!

Jeremy Piven & Tom Ford

It’s Tuesday! The official day for look-a-likes! Tom Ford and Jeremy Piven

We all know Tom Ford is one of the greatest designers in history, and may I say quite the looker. And we all know and love Jeremy Piven, whether he is playing the famous Ari Gold or just taking his Emmy’s for a stroll. These two extremely talented men are as different as different can be, yet they look so much alike! At least I think so. Let me know what you think of this match!

Mundane Mondays

Happy Monday! Last week was pretty much filled with random fun, which makes for a pretty epic mash of instagram pictures.

If The Shoes Fit

Brandy Melville Tank

Zara Skirt

Isabel Marant Sneakers

I am actually #obsessed with these Isabel Marant sneakers. My boss let me borrow them, even though they are 2 sizes too big, I don’t care! I would wear 50 pairs of socks to have these fit me, in reality it only took 3 pairs. The tank is from Brandy Melville (love this) back when they first started, I remember getting it for $15, and now I go there and everything is way more expensive. I love this tank I wear it any chance I get, whether it’s going to lunch at Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills, or going to the gym. The skirt I just got from Zara (similar here), I know this sounds sad but it’s the first maxi skirt I’ve ever owned. I’m 5’0″ ft tall and weigh 87lbs so it’s pretty hard to find cute skirts (jeans, shorts, and anything) that fit me. That’s why I usually take advantage of the Bloomingdales kids department. The skirt is for adults.

All Black Everything

Chanel – Classic Flap black hardware Limited edition for spring/summer 2011

Hermes – So Black Birkin

These are my two ultimate wants! As a person obsessed (to the point where my room is actually painted black) with things being all black, these two classic bags take the cake for me. And they low-key make me feel like a secret agent, like I would have some amazing spy equipment in them. But hey, if I’m gonna spend $50k on two bags, I may as well splurge for some extra gadgets ;)

About Look-a-Likes

Sometimes I get bored, like everyone else on this planet, and I think of celeb look-a-likes. Okay, most of them are really silly and random, but some of them are dead on. I’ll give you an example, this one I came up with the other night:

Tarzan and Kristen Stewart

Come on, you know you see it.

La Vie En Liz

My name is Liz, I was born in Paris, France and grew up in Beverly Hills and Bel Air. I have a tumblr which is mostly random collages of inspiration. I decided to make this site because I was bored, and thought – what the heck – maybe someone is interested in what I have to show. I chose the title “La Vie En Liz” because I am French, my name is Liz and this is about my life (and La Vie en Rose is on of my favorite songs.) I’ll pretty much be posting everything from outfits that I wear to random (what I think are) celeb look-a-likes. You can follow me on twitter @Disc0Liz , instagram @thelizlauren , and of course bloglovin and tumblr.
